M’sians working in Singapore and Thailand prohibited from commuting to the countries

As announced by the Prime Minister, Malaysians are prohibited from travelling overseas during the Movement Control order that will begin starting 18th of March. The Malaysia Immigration Department has confirmed that this restriction will be applicable to all Malaysians working in Singapore and Thailand.

Malay Mail has received clarification from the Immigration Department director-general, Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud, that Malaysians may not commute to the neighbouring two countries during the two-week restriction of movement order.

From 18th to 31st of March, all Malaysians are barred from going overseas, while returning Malaysians are subject to health checks and self-quarantine for 14-days. International travellers and foreigner visitors will be restricted from entering the country. All airports nationwide will still be open and there’s no restriction announced for domestic travel.

The latest restrictions were announced to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country. Vital and essential services such as banks, supermarkets, clinics, wet markets, oil, gas and more will remain open. Other non-essential businesses will be closed down. In addition, all form of mass gathering is prohibited as well.
