Before Malaysia enforces its Movement Control order at midnight tonight, the Ministry of Health has reported the first two deaths in Malaysia due to the COVID-19. One is in Johor while the other is in Sarawak.
The first reported death is Case 178. He’s a Malaysian male aged 34 and has attended the Ijtimak Tabligh at Seri Petaling Mosque. He had developed symptoms of fever on 5th March and was admitted to Hospital Permai, Johor Bahru on 12th March 2020 after he was tested positive for COVID-19. His condition deteriorated and was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. He passed away today on 17th March 2020.
The next reported death is Case 358, a 60-year-old Malaysian in Sarawak. He developed symptoms of fever, cough and breathing difficulties on 7th March 2020. He received treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital on 14th March after he was tested positive for COVID-19. He was also transferred to ICU and had passed away on 17th March 2020 after his health deteriorated.
According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Health, there are 120 new cases today and 95 are linked to the Sri Petaling cluster. This brings the total to 673 COVID-19 cases in Malaysia with 2 deaths reported so far. The Ministry has also reported 7 new recoveries which brings the total number of recovered cases to 49.
