Got an issue with the iPad Air (2019) display? Apple will repair it for free

Apple has announced a new service program that addresses a display issue for the current iPad Air (3rd gen). This particular iPad was introduced last year and it supports both the Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard.

According to Apple, under certain circumstances, a limited number of iPad Air units that are manufactured between March to October 2019 may go blank permanently. They added that a brief flicker or flash may appear before the screen goes completely blank. If you’re affected, Apple is offering free repairs at your nearest Apple Authorised Service Provider. Other iPad models are not covered by this service program.

This service program also covers Malaysian customers and you can find your nearest authorised service centre here. Before sending your device in, you are urged to perform a backup to iCloud and a full factory reset. According to Apple, if there is any existing damage to the iPad Air which impairs the ability to repair the device, it must be resolved first prior to the service and this may incur additional costs.

Even if your iPad Air is not exhibiting any display issues at the moment, this program will cover affected iPad Air (3rd gen) for a period of two years after the first retail sale of the unit.
