Tesco Malaysia is finally rolling out its Scan & Shop feature to cover all stores nationwide. This is an app-based feature which allows you to get real-time product pricing and it can speed up the checkout process at the store.

The app was initially available at Tesco Kepong and Tesco Ampang. According to Tesco, 59 out of 60 stores have been equipped with the Scan & Shop feature. The Tesco Extra Selayang outlet will support the feature by June 2020.

The Scan & Shop app requires no registration and you can use it straight away by scanning the QR code that’s displayed at the store. You’ll get to see the price of every scanned item before you put it in your physical basket or cart. According to Tesco Malaysia, the app is beneficial towards those who are keeping a tight budget as the app allows them to track the total value on their items before they check out.

Once you’re done with your shopping, you can generate a barcode in the app which you can scan at the self-checkout counter or at the normal cashier counters. With Scan & Shop, you won’t need to take out your items from your basket or shopping cart, which makes it even more convenient. Tesco says the app can help you save up to one minute of your time.

To support the country’s cashless ambition, all Tesco scores now accept debit and credit cards as well as eWallets such as AliPay, Boost, GoodKredit, GrabPay, Kiple, Mcash and TnG eWallet. They hope that the Scan & Shop app will lessen queue time and congestion at their stores, especially during peak hours.

The app is now available on the Apple AppStore and Google PlayStore.
