Celcom Mega: Choose between unlimited speed and data on postpaid

Celcom has announced a new postpaid plan, Celcom Mega, which allows users to select their plans based on their internet usage preferences. Flexibility is clearly one of the points of focus for Celcom with their new plan, and users are also able to trade in their unused internet quota for cashback at the end of each billing cycle via the Boost eWallet—RM5 for 10GB of data.

Basically, users will have the option to go for the Unlimited Mobile Internet Quota or the Lightning Mobile Internet Speed packages, with Celcom saying that there are “two separate rising demands for internet access”—fast speeds and unlimited quotas. The base package has a subscription fee of RM80 per month, with unlimited calls to all networks, along with 30GB of data.

There are two plans under the Unlimited Mobile Internet umbrella: Mega Unlimited M (RM18), and Mega Unlimited L (RM68). Under the M package, you get unlimited high definition streaming, social media, and music, while the L package gives you Full HD streaming, along with unlimited “high-quality” music.

It’s worth noting that there are speed caps for Celcom Mega unlimited quota plans: 5Mbps for Mega Unlimited M, and 15Mbps for Mega Unlimited L. You’re also limited to 5GB and 10GB for hotspot usage, with regards to the Mega Unlimited M and Mega Unlimited L plans respectively.

Under the Lightning Mobile Internet Speed plans, you have three options: Mega M (RM18), Mega L (RM68), and Mega XL (RM108). You get the fastest speeds available, while the Mega M, L, and XL offer you 10GB, 30GB, and 70GB respectively—in addition to 30GB each.

Meanwhile, the Boost wallet cashback is only available for plans under the Lighting Mobile Internet Speed plans, with Celcom telling us that the cashback will only be available for a 2-month period. Additionally, subscribers of the highest plan under Lightning Mobile Internet Speed are entitled to free roaming in 12 countries (total: RM188).

And as part of them offering more flexibility, Celcom also allows for users to add Family Lines to their subscription at RM40 per line, with an additional 15GB granted to each line. Other add-ons include Celcom Passport, INTERNETshare, the Ultra Hour Pass, and Unlimited Social.

According to Roy Ong, Chief Product and Innovation Officer of Celcom Axiata Berhad:

“Internet experience is unique to every individual, and with our latest innovative Celcom MEGA™ postpaid plan, Malaysians can now personalise their very own digital lifestyles and experiences. Those who prefer worry-free Internet connectivity can opt for our Unlimited Mobile Internet plan with unlimited Internet quota for non-stop Internet experience, regardless for streaming, gaming, browsing and many more, at consistent internet speeds.

However, those who crave for fast internet speeds and want to optimise their Internet plan, can choose our Lightning Mobile Internet speed plan. With the Lightning Mobile Internet speed plans, they have the freedom to utilise their Internet quota when travelling overseas (with our Roam Like Home feature) or even trade-in unused Internet quota for cashback.”

You can change your plan once every month, unless you’re on a plan that has a phone bundled with it. Meanwhile, you can also opt to stick with the RM80 Celcom Mega plan without any of the add-ons, if you prefer.
