How did Apple achieve their best quarter ever? | ICYMI #260

On today’s episode, we have some pretty interesting news. Apple announced their best quarterly revenue ever for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2020, while Grab is also rolling out electric vehicles in Indonesia. We’re also going to discuss the resignation of a man once expected to take the reigns at Telekom Malaysia, and the Wuhan coronavirus and arrests for fake news.

GrabCar Elektrik

Grab has announced GrabCar Elektrik in Indonesia, as part of the Indonesian government’s initiative to have 2 million electric vehicles on the road by the end of 2025. Grab aims to have 500 electric vehicles on the road by the end of 2020, and the current EV being used in the fleet is the Hyundai Ioniq Electric, although service is confined to Grab Pick-up Points at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.

Apple’s best quarter ever

Apple posted the financial results from their first quarter of the fiscal year 2020, and what a quarter it has been for them. The numbers show that the Cupertino-based company has achieved its best quarterly revenue ever, with CEO Tim Cook attributing this—in part—to the strong performance of the iPhone 11 series.

Imri Mokhtar resigns

Once slated to be the next CEO of Telekom Malaysia, TM’s COO, Imri Mokhtar, will be leaving the company at the end of the month. Imri’s resignation was announced by current TM Group CEO, Dato’ Noor Kamarul via an internal staff email, with the CEO expressing his gratitude to Imri for his contributions as Unifi’s Executive Vice President and COO.

More arrests made for fake news on Wuhan virus

More arrests have been made with regards to spreading fake news on the Wuhan virus outbreak, with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the Royal Malaysia Police detaining 4 more individuals. Read the full story here.
