Samsung Galaxy A71: 64MP cam and Snapdragon 730 for less than RM1,800?

Samsung is releasing its new Galaxy A51 and A71 in Malaysia very soon. These are Samsung’s latest mid-range offering that now comes with quad-cameras while offering a couple of minor upgrades. Apart from the Galaxy Note 10 Lite, MDroid has also dropped details of its purported Malaysian pricing.

Samsung Galaxy A71

The Samsung Galaxy A71 which replaces the Galaxy A70 (A70s wasn’t released locally) is expected to be priced at RM1,799. That’s RM200 cheaper than the A70 at the time of launch but it comes with a more powerful Snapdragon 730 processor instead of a Snapdragon 675. The device can be configured with up to 8GB RAM + 128GB of storage.

The A71 still retains a 6.7″ Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display and a generous 4,500mAh battery that supports 25W fast-charging via USB-C. For imaging, it features a 64MP f/1.8 main camera, a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle-shooter, a 5MP f/2.2 depth-camera and a 5MP f/2.4 macro shooter. As spotted on SIRIM, the device has NFC and it is an indication that it supports Samsung Pay.

Samsung Galaxy A51

Hitting the mid-range sweet spot is the Samsung Galaxy A51 and it is said to retain the same RM1,299 pricing as the current Galaxy A50s. The device features a slightly larger 6.5″ Full HD+ Super AMOLED display but it runs on the same Exynos 9611 processor. Like the A71, it can be configured with up to 8GB RAM + 128GB of storage, which is still expandable via microSD card.

For taking pictures, it also gets a quad-camera setup which comprises of a 48MP f/2.0 main camera, a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle shooter, a 5MP depth camera and a 5MP macro shooter. Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery and it supports 15W fast charging via USB-C.

So far no details of its availability but it could go on sale shortly after the Chinese New Year holidays.
