Purported Huawei P40 Pro caught on camera

The Huawei P40 series is expected to be revealed very soon and it will feature an upgraded camera setup that will take zooming to the next level. A mysterious device was caught in public and it is said to be the top-of-the-line Huawei P40 Pro.

Most posts on Weibo have suggested that the device shown here is the Huawei P40 Pro. It comes with a dual-curved screen and a dual-selfie-camera setup on the top left corner. The front matches the leaked renders that were shared by serial leakster @evleaks.

However, the device was using a rather special case which conceals its rear camera setup. It even has two separate flap covers to avoid giving away any hints of its actual camera layout. As seen above, there’s a dongle sticking out so don’t expect the new P40 series to come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The images were initially shared on this Weibo account but it was deleted shortly after. Since this is the internet, there’s no stopping for others to reshare the same images.

The latest Huawei P series will come with up to 5 cameras at the rear. It has been speculated that its telephoto camera can offer up to 10X optical zoom using a periscope mechanism. While we expect Huawei to typically announce two flagship models, it is also speculated that the Chinese smartphone maker could be releasing a total of three different flagship options that offer a different camera setup.

The top of the line model with 5 cameras is said to be the P40 Pro Premium Edition. Meanwhile, the standard P40 Pro will get 4 cameras with a focal length range of 18-125mm, which is quite similar to the current P30 Pro. As usual, we would also expect Huwaei to announce a Porsche Edition variant which is likely to be based on the P40 Pro.
