Realme 6i passes Malaysia’s SIRIM certification

Realme is just flooding the market even with more budget smartphones. Just a day after they introduced the RM599 Realme 5i in Malaysia, a new device has just entered our local SIRIM database.

The new device with the model number RMX2040 was spotted on SIRIM and it was approved today on 15th January 2020. The same device was also listed on Singapore’s IMDA and the marketing name has been revealed as the Realme 6i.

Looking at the description, the Realme 6i is expected to be yet another budget device. It doesn’t support 5GHz 802.11ac WiFi and the “i” is expected to be the most affordable variant under the Realme 6 series.

As a comparison, the current Realme 5i features a 6.5″ HD+ display, a Snapdragon 665 processor, a quad-camera setup (12MP main + 8MP ultra-wide + 2MP macro + 2MP portrait) and a huge 5,000mAh battery. The new Realme 6i could probably offer minor updates as it is positioned as a sub-RM600 smartphone.

Apart from the Realme 6i, we expect the Oppo sub-brand to introduce a more capable Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro that offer better specs, especially in the camera department. The Realme 6 series was also certified in India and it is expected to be announced in the first quarter of 2020. It is speculated that the standard Realme 6 could be running on a Snapdragon 710 processor and it comes with a Penta-camera setup.

In case you missed it, the Realme Buds Air has finally landed in Malaysia with the retail price of RM299. During the first-day sale on Shopee, you can get it for only RM199 on the 21st January 2020. Realme’s AirPods clone offers up to 3 hours of music playback on a single charge and up to 17 hours with the charging case. It supports wireless charging and it connects via Bluetooth 5.0.
