Get a 50% discount on PDRM summonses from Jan 18–Feb 1 2020

The Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcemnet Department (JSPT) director, Datuk Azisman Alias, has said that the police are offering a 50% discount for outstanding summonses from the 18th of January until the 1st of February 2020.

You can opt to pay for your outstanding summons online through MyEG or Rilex.com, with the police looking to encourage e-payments this year. The director reportedly said:

“We never did online payment before which would not require people to queue for hours to pay. You can make payments online via MyEG and Rilex.com”

Malay Mail further reports that the number of fatal crashes this year has gone down by 1.8%—which is in line with the PDRM’s KPI, according to Azisman.

At the moment, it isn’t clear if all traffic summonses under PDRM will be eligible for the 50% discount, with certain summonses issued under “ops” not included under past discount campaigns.

Regardless, it’s certainly worth paying off any outstanding summons in time for the Chinese New Year celebrations. And if you’re travelling for the festivities, remember to stay within the confines of traffic laws—the next discount campaign is probably sometime away.
