Huawei Malaysia has announced the arrival of the MateBook D 15, its first AMD powered laptop for our local market. According to Huawei, Malaysia is the first market to get it outside of China.
The Huawei MateBook D 15 features a 15.6″ FullView display that boasts an 87% screen-to-body ratio which is made possible with its narrow 5.3mm bezels. It uses an IPS panel that pushes a Full HD (1920×1080) resolution in an 16:9 aspect ratio.
Under the hood, it runs on 12nm AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor with 8GB DDR4 RAM along with an integrated AMD Radeon Vega 8 GPU. Onboard, the MateBook D 15 has 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD and 1TB of HDD for further storage.
Although this is a sub-RM2,500 laptop, it also gets a couple of “flagship” features including a pop-up 1MP webcam that sits between the function keys and a power button that has a built-in fingerprint scanner.
It charges via USB-C and the bundled 65W power brick can push 53% charge to its 42Wh battery in just 30 minutes. The laptop also gets 3x USB-A ports (1x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0), an HDMI port and an audio jack.
Weighing at 1.62kg (with HDD included) with a thickness of 16.9mm, Huawei claims that it’s the smallest and lightest 15.6″ laptop in its price range. Similar to other Huawei laptops, you can seamlessly transfer files between your laptop and mobile device with its multi-screen collaboration feature. Out of the box, it runs on Windows 10 Home Edition.
The MateBook D 15 is officially priced at RM2,499 and it will be available nationwide from 18th January 2020. For more info, you can check out Huawei Malaysia’s online store.
