The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro: Who needs 108MP the most?

This post is brought to you by Xiaomi.

Xiaomi’s latest Mi Note 10 Pro has just been launched in Malaysia, and one of the headlining features of the latest smartphone to come from the Chinese company is the 108MP shooter in the device’s penta-camera setup.

Powered by the Snapdragon 730G, the Mi Note 10 Pro also features a 6.47” curved AMOLED display, along with a large 5,260mAh battery that supports 30W charging via USB-C. The penta-camera setup, meanwhile, is made up of a 108MP wide camera, a 12MP portrait lens, a 5MP 5X telephoto, a 20MP super-wide angle camera as well as a 2MP macro camera. And for selfies, there’s a 32MP selfie camera conveniently located in a small notch on the display.

With such a versatile set of features, who is the Mi Note 10 Pro really suited for? Let’s take a look at a number of different professions/jobs—and discuss how the Mi Note 10 Pro’s specs match up to different scenarios.

1. Journalists

In this day and age, a good camera on a smartphone is clearly a must for the modern day journalist/reporter. From capturing images on-the-go, or simply to snap a picture of something for reference while covering an event—a versatile camera setup is absolutely essential for the day-to-day of someone working in the press.

The 108MP camera ensures that plenty of detail is captured in every shot, while the super wide angle lens, as well as two telephoto lenses, means that you have a flexible set of tools to work with. Meanwhile, the 5,260mAh battery—which can be quick charged with a 30W charger—means that you have more than enough battery life to get you through the most gruelling days.

2. Bloggers and Content Creators

Creating content, whether it’s for social media or personal/professional blogs, can be a lot more difficult than it looks to the average bystander. The level of equipment required to create high quality content will surprise many—which is why smartphones are very often a crucial tool for those in the industry.

As mentioned, the camera setup of the Mi Note 10 Pro certainly provides those in the media with a complete set of mobile photography tools, and you also have a 32MP selfie camera that will more than suffice for vlogging—wherever you are. There’s also optical-image-stabilisation (OIS) for both the 108MP main shooter and the 5MP telephoto lens, which means that the smartphone can be used to shoot a variety of situations, without losing the video production value that professional content requires. And the Snapdragon 730G powering the smartphone, provides the power under the hood to handle all but the most arduous of tasks.

Media consumption is certainly important for the average creator, too. The 6.47” curved AMOLED display means that work, video, or even entertainment needs are met—and even surpassed (the Mi Note 10 Pro even supports RAW files). Also, many creators still prefer the latency-less of wired headphones, which makes the headphone jack a handy thing to have on the Mi Note 10 Pro.

3. Retailers and Entrepreneurs

E-commerce is booming, and opportunities are abounding for entrepreneurs in the digital space. Retailers and used goods dealers require a certain set of functionalities from their device—a camera that snaps detailed photos for listings or sales, a powerful device to do mobile computing, and of course, an all-round solid device.

The Mi Note 10 Pro also has an in-display fingerprint scanner, while hi-res audio and an IR blaster add on to the versatile package that the phone provides. The Snapdragon 730G, meanwhile, is an upper-midrange chipset that is optimised for gaming—which everyone, even entrepreneurs—can enjoy.

Professional-grade camera quality in a smartphone

The Mi Note 10 Pro’s penta-camera setup is essentially Xiaomi’s way of providing a multitude of photography options for users—regardless of who they are. That’s backed up by photography features like Vlog Mode, RAW file support, as well as Dual OIS.

The 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor from Samsung, meanwhile, offers users “professional-grade” camera quality in a really small device. As mentioned, the pixel count allows for a high level of detail in shots taken, even when an image is cropped or zoomed in. Meanwhile, the sensor also utilises 0.8μm-sized pixels and also features a larger 1/1.33-inch size. This means more light is absorbed in low-lit environments.

And the performance of the Mi Note 10 Pro’s cameras is validated by a DxOMark rating of 121—currently 2nd in the leaderboard for highest overall camera score of any phone tested by the independent benchmarkers.

Meanwhile, it certainly isn’t lacking in other departments. The gaming-centric Snapdragon 730G is well-suited to handle mobile games, while there’s functionality-focused features like an IR Blaster, a headphone jack, and NFC support.

And sustaining it all is a huge 5,260mAh battery—enough for the longest of days.
