Apple’s AirPods Pro are now available in Malaysia for RM1,099

Update: We’ve reached out to a few authorised retailers, and the AirPods Pro are expected to be available in physical stores in early-December.

The AirPods Pro were earlier announced, with the Pro version looking very different from earlier entries in the AirPods series. But the differences aren’t just aesthetic. The AirPods Pro feature active noise cancellation and are splash resistant (IPX4)—a first for the series.

And now, the AirPods Pro are available in Malaysia at RM1,099. You can pick it up on Apple’s official online store, while we should see physical stocks hitting the shelves at authorised retailers soon. We’ve reached out to a few authorised retailers to check on availability, and will update this post accordingly.

To recap, the AirPods Pro is promised to have up to 4.5 hours of music playback with ANC enabled. or up to 5 hours with ANC and transparency mode turned off. If you include the charging case, you’re looking at a total of more than 24 hours of music playback. Meanwhile, a quick 5-minutes charge in the case can provide 1 hour of music playback or talk time.

It’s powered by the same Apple H1 chip that the 2nd-gen Apple AirPods have, and the AirPods Pro now use an in-ear design with silicon tips. There’s also a “transparency mode”, where you can pinch on the stem of the earphones to hear your surroundings. In addition to that, a combination of outward-facing and inward-facing mics help to cancel out noise at a rate of 200 times per second for noise cancellation.

For some comparison, the 2nd-gen AirPods (with the Wireless Charging Case) is still priced at RM879, while the PowerBeats Pro is currently going for RM999. You can also have a look at Sony’s WF-1000XM3, which offer ANC as well.
