This is probably the oddest looking quad-camera layout on a smartphone

The Vivo S1 was announced a couple of months back and the Chinese smartphone maker will launch the Vivo S5 on the 14th of November at Hangzhou, China. As expected, Vivo is adding more cameras and to top it off, it is arranged in a very peculiar way.

At the rear, you’ll get a cube camera bump that’s turned at a 45-degree angle. The bump itself houses three cameras with an LED flash and there’s an extra camera at the bottom of the cube. It also features a punch-hole display with the selfie camera positioned on the top right corner.

In terms of specs, its TENAA certification listing has indicated it will feature a 6.44″ Full HD+ AMOLED display and it is likely to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor. It appears to come with 8GB of RAM and with either 128GB or 256GB of storage onboard.

For taking pictures, the device is expected to come with a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP depth sensor and a 2MP camera dedicated for macro. For selfies, it comes with a 32MP front camera. Powering the device is a 4,010mAh battery which is decent for a mid-range device.

It is worth noting that the Vivo S series for China is very different from the global market. For example, the Vivo S1 in China comes with a larger 6.53″ display with an Helio P70 processor, but the version for Malaysia comes with a smaller 6.38″ display, a lower Helio P65 processor but it comes with a larger 4,500mAh battery. If it does come here, it could be released as a different model, perhaps as an alternative variant under the V series.
