Shortly after releasing the Xperia 1, Sony Malaysia is offering the compact-sized Xperia 5 smartphone starting next Friday. As an early bird promo, they are bundling a pair of wireless noise-cancelling headphones worth RM1,159 for free.
The Sony Xperia 5 is officially priced at RM3,399 and it’s available in Blue, Red, Black and Grey. Sony is bundling the WH-H900N h.ear on 2 Wireless Noise headphones at all Sony Stores, Sony Store Online and selected Sony Centres nationwide from the 1st November 2019. The headphones are offered only in Twilight Red and Moonlit Blue, and while stocks last.
The Sony Xperia 5 was unveiled last month at IFA 2019 and it is essentially the smaller version of the Xperia 1. It features a 6.1″ Full HD+ OLED display with HDR support that comes with a tall 21:9 aspect ratio. Like the bigger Xperia, it runs on a Snapdragon 855 processor with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage.
In the camera department, it retains the same triple-camera setup that uses 12MP sensors. It gets a 12MP f/1.6 main camera, 12MP f/2.4 telephoto and a 12MP f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle unit. Both the main and telephoto cameras come with optical image stabilisation.
Powering the Xperia 5 is a 3,140mAh battery that supports USB-C PD charging. A 30-minute charge on the cable can push 50% charge. As you would expect from a Sony flagship, it also gets IP68 dust resistance, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos but it doesn’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
As a comparison, the Xperia 1 with a 4K display is officially priced at RM4,299. With RM3,399 price tag, the Xperia 5 is priced the same as the base model iPhone 11 that comes with 64GB of storage. Which would you pick?
