OnePlus 7T Pro: Minor update with Snapdragon 855+ and larger battery

OnePlus has just revealed its OnePlus 7T Pro, a mid-cycle update for its current top-of-the-line flagship device. Similar to the OnePlus 7T which was announced a couple of weeks ago, the device receives a performance bump with the latest Snapdragon 855+ processor.

Overall, it is quite a minor update. Apart from the processor, the battery capacity has been increased by 2% from 4,000mAh to 4,085mAh. The rest of the phone remains unchanged and it comes in a new Haze Blue colour option.

Upfront, the OnePlus 7T Pro retains a 6.67″ AMOLED display that pushes a Quad-HD+ resolution. It also supports a high 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. For instant unlocking, there’s face unlock and the display also features an in-display fingerprint sensor.

In the camera department, it features the same 48MP f/1.6 main camera using Sony’s IMX586 sensor, an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens and a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle shooter. It can do 4K videos up to 60fps as well as 960fps slow-mo in 720p.

For an immersive viewing experience, the device doesn’t come with a notch or punch-holes, but it still keeps a 16MP f/2.0 pop-up selfie camera. Also retained is a pair of stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos enhancement.

Out of the box, the device still gets a 30W charger but OnePlus has given the 7T a newer Warp Charge 30T power brick that claims to be 23% faster than the previous version. Despite having a bigger battery, the new Warp Charger can push 68% charge in just 30 minutes. This tells us that the new charger could probably push its max output for a longer time than the current Warp Charge 30.

In the UK, the OnePlus 7T Pro with 8GB RAM + 256GB UFS 3.0 storage is going for GBP 699 which is about RM3,639 if converted directly. We still don’t know if it’s coming to Malaysia anytime soon but authorised distributor Xian Feng technology has been teasing the OnePlus 7T series for a couple of weeks now.
