Maxis expands its fibre broadband coverage in Sabah via Celcom Timur

More Malaysians can soon enjoy Maxis’ Home Fibre Broadband offering as the telco has signed a partnership with Celcom Timur. With this collaboration, Maxis can gain full access to Celcom Timur’s fibre optic network in Sabah which will enable them to provide high-speed broadband services at attractive rates for both home and business users.

According to Maxis, Sabahans residing in Celcom Timur’s fibre optic network can sign up to Maxis’ fibre plans starting from 1st November 2019. Leveraging on CT Sabah’s infrastructure, Maxis will also have access to the latest hardware and software technology on a 24/7 network monitoring system. They will also have access to CT Sabah’s dedicated technical support staff to assist customers in managing network transmission with a current average Mean Time to Restore (MTTR) of within 2 hours.

At the moment, Maxis OneHome fibre broadband plans start from RM89/month for 30Mbps while the business plans start from RM99/month for 30Mbps. The highest speed available is 800Mbps.

Commenting on the collaboration, Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, said that the collaboration between service providers is important for the successful implementation of the National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan (NFCP). By widening access to broadband connectivity, more consumers and businesses in Sabah would be able to leverage the Internet to create better opportunities which can in turn help accelerate the growth of our digital economy.

Maxis CEO, Gokhan Ogut, said that their partnership with CT Sabah is another significant step forward for the telco to fulfil their converged ambitions. He thanked CT Sabah for helping them making this a reality not just for Maxis, but for the people and businesses in Sabah.

Nazaruddin Abdul Rahim, the CEO of CT Sabah, said that as a leading infrastructure provider with the widest fibre optic network in Sabah and Labuan, he is committed to working closely with telcos to enable them to expand their coverage throughout the state. He is confident that their continued partnership with Maxis will be highly beneficial to fibre users in Sabah.

The signing with Celcom Timur is the third HSBB access agreement that Maxis has signed after TM and SACOFA. In Sarawak, Maxis has already rolled out its fibre plans to more Sarawakians via SACOFA’s network.
