Samsung has officially announced its Galaxy A90 5G, its latest member of the Galaxy A family. On the surface, it looks like a mid-range Galaxy A70 but underneath you’ll find a flagship-class Snapdragon 855 processor and high-speed 5G connectivity.
The Galaxy A90 5G features a 6.7″ Full HD+ Super AMOLED display. It has a U-shaped notch at the top that houses a 32MP f/2.0 selfie camera. For instant unlocking, it also comes with an on-screen fingerprint sensor and it also supports face unlock.
Under the hood, it features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 5G mobile platform which includes a Snapdragon X50 5G modem and Qualcomm’s RF-Front-end solutions. The device comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Interestingly, there’s a microSD expansion slot but it is only available for the 6GB RAM variant.
In the imaging department, the device gets a triple-camera setup which consists of a 48MP f/2.0 main, 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle and 5MP f/2.2 for depth. Like the A70, it gets a large 4,500mAh battery that supports 25W Super Fast Charging via USB-C. According to its South Korean website, the device doesn’t come with a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack.
Although it is seen as a “mid-range” smartphone, this is also the first Galaxy A series device to support Samsung DeX and Microsoft Your Phone app. This allows you to transform your smartphone into a desktop-like experience.
The device will be offered in two colour options – black and white, and it will be available in South Korea from 4th September. Samsung will also roll out the device to more markets later. You can check out the full spec-sheet below:
