Huawei has just launched their brand new mid-range smartphone, the Huawei Nova 5T, in Malaysia. And it’s an exciting device because the Nova 5T looks like a really capable smartphone for its price, and it’s going head-to-head with some of the best in the business.

Pricing and Availability

Huawei’s Nova 5T is priced at RM1,599 in Malaysia, and you can choose from one of three colours – Midsummer Purple, Crush Blue and Black. The phone will be available for pre-order starting from 29 August at the Huawei Online Store and at 3ex.com.my. The device will be available on 7th September 2019 nationwide.

If you pre-order between 29 August to 5 September 2019, you will receive freebies worth RM325 which consists of Huawei mini speakers and Huawei SuperCharge in-car charger. After the pre-order period, you can still receive the Huawei SuperCharge in-car charger for free.

If you purchase the device by 30th September, you are also entitled to enjoy 1-year additional warranty.

Specs

One of the biggest strengths of the Huawei Nova 5T lies in its spec sheet because it features a really good set of internals for the price. At its core, the smartphone is powered by Huawei’s flagship Kirin 980 processor that’s mated to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, the storage is not expandable via microSD, but 128GB is a pretty reasonable place to start.

Up front, the Nova 5T features a 6.26″ LCD display with a tiny punch hole at the top left that houses the 32MP selfie camera. Keeping the lights on is a 3,750 mAh battery with support for Huawei’s 22.5W SuperCharge fast-charging technology. Additionally, the phone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a quad camera setup a the back.

The main camera module consists of a 48MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture wide-angle lens, a 16MP ultra-wide angle camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. This camera layout is incredibly similar to the Honor 20 that launched earlier this year.

In fact, most of the Huawei Nova 5T is pretty similar to the Honor 20 except for the fact that it has more RAM, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. That’s because the Honor 20 is one of the most capable smartphones for its price in the market, and having this phone be even more affordable than that means the Nova 5T looks like a proper contender.
