If the ROG Phone II is out of your budget, the Xiaomi-backed Black Shark 2 Pro is launching in Malaysia next week. This is an updated gaming smartphone that runs on the latest Snapdragon 855+ processor.

According to retailer DirectD, the Black Shark 2 Pro official Malaysian set is expected to be available on 10th September. The device will come in two variants – 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage.

The Freezing Blade and Black Bolt colour variants are expected to be in stock on 10th September, while the Racing variant is said to be coming by end of the next month. If you want to be the first to get it, they are also offering a pre-registration on their product page.

Apart from having a top-of-the-line Qualcomm processor, the gaming device comes with a 6.39″ Full HD+ display and it uses a faster UFS 3.0 storage. The device still offers a standard 60Hz refresh rate but it claims to offer a high 240Hz touch polling rate.

For imaging, it gets a 48MP + 12MP dual-camera setup for the rear and a 20MP front-facing shooter. Keeping the lights on is a 4,000mAh battery that supports 27W fast charging via USB-C. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The official Malaysian launch is taking place on 3rd September 2019. In China, the 12GB RAM and 128GB storage model is priced at 2,999CNY (about RM1,771), while the 256GB variant is going for 3,499CNY (about RM2,067). If you can’t wait, an import set is currently going for less than RM2,300 for the 12GB RAM + 128GB storage model.
