The Reno series is barely five months old and Oppo is about to introduce its new Reno2 very soon. Ahead of its launch in New Delhi on 28th August 2019, the Chinese smartphone maker has dropped more clues including its new quad-camera setup.
While the Reno 10X Zoom edition features a triple-camera setup, the Reno 2 is fitted with four cameras at the rear. According to its TENAA certification listing, the device will feature a 48MP f/1.7 main camera, a 13MP telephoto camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP shooter for depth sensing.
Oppo India already has a teaser page for the device and it reveals the telephoto camera’s 5X Hybrid zoom capability. To get even closer, it can go up to 20X digital zoom. Looking at the camera lens, the Reno 2 settles for a simpler setup instead of a complicated periscope system that’s found on the 10X Zoom edition.
The new device boasts steadier video capture with its Ultra Steady Mode. For low light shots, the Reno 2 also features a new Ultra Dark Mode.
Similar to the current Oppo Reno, the device charges via USB-C and it still retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. For selfies, the Reno 2 retains the distinct wedge-shaped pop-up selfie mechanism and it also features an in-display fingerprint sensor.
If you’re wondering about its internal hardware, Oppo VP, Brian Shen, has confirmed that the Reno 2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 730G processor. This appears to be an upgrade to the standard Reno which is powered by a Snapdragon 710 processor.
As a comparison, the first-gen Oppo Reno is priced at RM1,999 with 6GB RAM + 256GB storage. Meanwhile, the top of the line Oppo Reno 10X zoom with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage was launched at RM3,399.
