Huawei’s EMUI 10 will allow you to make video calls with drones

EMUI 10 has just been launched, and a host of new features is coming to Huawei smartphones with the Android Q-based update. Huawei also showed off a feature that looks particularly interesting at the recent HDC 2019 Developer Conference—a feature with EMUI 10 that will allow drones to make video calls.

At the conference, Huawei demonstrated the feature by connecting a video call from a DJI Mavic 2, with the live feed of the drone’s HD arial view transmitted via a HD video call. This was reportedly done in real-time at the conference, and is part of EMUI 10’s emphasis on multi-device cross-functionality, among other things.

When a video call is put through, receivers can opt to answer the call on their smartphones, watch, or even cars—if the devices are listed as compatible devices, that is.

EMUI 10’s cross-device functionality also includes multi-screen collaboration, which basically means that you can use supported Huawei smartphones and laptops together.

Along with that, accessories connected to your PC such as your mouse and keyboard will be able to be used to control your smartphone, although 3rd party apps may be required. According to Huawei, users will also be able to utilise this shared screen function to drag-and-drop files.

EMUI 10 will be first tested via a beta program for the Huawei P30 series, with other models to follow. Along with that, the upcoming flagship Mate 30 series will feature the Android Q-based update.
