Redmi Note 8 Pro with 64MP quad-camera is launching next week

The successor to the Redmi Note 7 is coming very soon and Xiaomi has just dropped its first teaser for its upcoming Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. The image also reveals a quad-camera setup that features a 64MP sensor for its main camera.

In terms of design the Redmi Note 8 Pro looks more upmarket with a slightly curved back. It has a vertical triple-camera array like the Mi 9T but if you look towards the right, you’ll find the LED flash and an extra camera which could be used for depth sensing or super macro.

Since it has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, the device won’t come with an in-display unit. This strongly indicates that the device may use an LCD display instead of AMOLED. We don’t have the full hardware details yet but it is likely that the non-Pro version may not come with a 64MP main camera.

The devices will be revealed on 29th August 2019 in China. Xiaomi is also giving away the Redmi Note 8 through a social sharing giveaway via Weibo and they will add an extra unit for every 6,400 shares.

Since the Realme XT is only launching sometime in September, the Redmi Note 8 Pro could be the world’s first smartphone to feature a 64MP camera.
