Huawei has just announced the Android Q-based EMUI 10, while the Realme 5 Pro has just been launched in India with some pretty appealing specs. On the Malaysian end, SOCAR has announced a sizeable discount for the Merdeka month, while Huawei is launching the Nova 5T with some very familiar specs. There have also been some leaks on the upcoming Redmi Note 8—watch the video below for the details.
Redmi fans are awaiting the follow-up to the Redmi Note 7, and an image has surfaced online that could very well be the budget Redmi 8. Based on China’s TENAA certification a device which could be the budget Redmi 8, it could come with a 6.22″ HD+ display, as well as 4GB RAM and up to 64GB of expandable storage. We’re also guessing it could be powered by a Snapdragon 439 chipset, although there’s nothing concrete on that at the moment.
As for the more premium Redmi Note 8 Pro, a leaked image indicates that the device won’t be coming with an in-display fingerprint scanner. As most finger-print scanners require OLED displays, we’re expecting Redmi’s upcoming smartphone to have an LCD display instead. Based on the image, there should be 3, or possibly 4 cameras on the back of the phone, as well.
Huawei’s Nova 5T, will be showcased in Malaysia over the coming weekend, and Roland Quandt predicts that the device will basically be a rebranded Honor 20. If that’s accurate, we’re looking at a 6.26″ Full HD+ punch-hole display, a Kirin 980 processor, along with a 3,750mAh battery to sustain the device.
While the most affordable 6GB/128GB variant of the Honor 20 retails for RM1,699, it seems likely that the Nova 5T will be priced slightly higher due to its Huawei branding. That being said, our guess is as good as anyone. Click here to find out more.
If you’ve using car-sharing service, SOCAR, here’s a quick PSA. Until the end of August 2019, entering the promo code—SOMERDEKA31—will nab you a 31% discount. However (to our great disappointment), this only applies to 6 models: Axia, Vios, Altis, Bezza, Iriz, Myvi, HR-V and Jazz. So no, you won’t be able to get the discount for a Mini or a BMW, but it’s still a decent discount, wouldn’t you say?

Huawei has just announced EMUI 10, and the great news here is the confirmation that it will run on Android Q. This means that, along with all the features you expect with Google’s latest Android update, EMUI 10 will bring a couple of pretty interesting features to Huawei’s smartphones.
This includes the ability to share screens across multiple devices (sound familiar?), with drag-and-drop functionality also coming across devices. They’re also introducing HiCar, a feature that will allow you to use your smartphone to control certain features in your car. And of course, system-wise Dark Mode—something we’ve been expecting for awhile.

What about Realme 4? Well, if you’re familiar with superstitions and cultural beliefs (unlike this writer), the number 4 is inauspicious due to its similar sound in the Chinese language as death. This might explain why Realme has opted to skip the number entirely.
In any case, the Realme 5 Pro will have the same 6.3″ Full HD+ Dewdrop display that the Realme 3 Pro has, with a great 90.6% screen-to-body ratio. It’s also powered by Qualcomm’s upper-midrange Snapdragon 712, and has variants of up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Storage will also be expandable by up to 256GB, with support for a microSD card.
And Realme has finally included a USB Type-C port for the Realme 5 Pro, which will support 20W VOOC fast-charging. We don’t know when the device will hit Malaysian shores, but we’ll be waiting for Realme to make an official announcement, hopefully soon.
And here’s a novel feature Realme has included in their latest smartphone—a 3.5mm headphone jack. Wonderful.
