Huawei Mate X with quad-camera passes China’s certification

The Huawei Mate X will be delayed until the end of this year but the Chinese smartphone maker has already gotten the green light from China’s TENAA certification. After its debut at MWC 2019, Huawei has made a couple of improvements to the foldable smartphone which can be seen in the certification images.

The foldable form-factor remains unchanged as the Mate X uses an outward folding mechanism. On the rear panel, you’ll find that the device now comes with four cameras instead of three. The button to release its locking mechanism has been revised with a bigger button that’s flush to the panel. This new design was spotted last month by a Chinese journalist. It is also said that Huawei has made some improvements to its Falcon hinge for better reliability.

From the TENAA listing, it appears that the device is now heavier at 300 grams while the battery is slightly smaller at 4,400mAh. In terms of connectivity, the Huawei Mate X with its Balong 5000 modem supports 5G Band 41, Band 78 and Band 79 for both NSA and SA architectures.

At the moment, it appears that Huawei will be releasing the Mate X after the Galaxy Fold hits the market next month. Tentatively, the Huawei foldable phone is expected to be released sometime in November or December. Since it has already passed TENAA’s certification, this could be a sign that the device could be released in China very soon.
