Realme India is announcing a couple of new smartphones next week which claims to be the first 48MP quad-camera smartphone in its price segment. The Oppo sub-brand has revealed that this is the new Realme 5 series and this could be the successor of the Realme 3 and Realme 3 Pro that was announced about 4-5 months ago.
Ahead of the actual launch event which is scheduled for 20th August, Realme had dropped a couple of clues of the devices via its Twitter account. We also get to learn more about the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro via its teaser pages on Flipkart.
For the Realme 5, the device will come with a quad-camera setup that consists of a main lens, an ultra-wide-angle shooter, a super macro lens and a portrait lens for bokeh effects. There’s no mention of the cameras’ pixel count but it is likely a notch below the Realme 5 Pro to keep it at a lower price point.
What’s interesting is that the Realme 5 will come with a huge 5,000mAh battery which is the largest so far on a Realme smartphone. On top of that, the teaser page also indicated that it will be running on a new Qualcomm processor which is speculated to be a Snapdragon 665 unit.
If you’re looking for something better, there’s also the Realme 5 Pro. Like the Realme 5, it will come with a quad-camera setup but it uses a familiar 48MP SONY IMX586 sensor for the main camera. The device also features an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 119-degree field of view and a super macro lens that lets you get up close at 4 cm. The device also features a fourth camera for portrait shots.
The battery capacity isn’t mentioned but the Realme 5 Pro does support Oppo’s 20W VOOC Flash Charge 3.0. According to Realme, you can get a 55% charge in just 30 minutes. Hopefully, Realme will finally switch to a USB-C port for this model.
Remember the mysterious Realme device that comes with a 64MP main camera? We still don’t know the name of the device just yet but Realme has hinted on Twitter last week that it could be released alongside the new Realme 5 series.
In China, Realme has done a showcase of its new 64MP-capable smartphone. According to Realme, the 64MP device is using Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright GW1 camera that comes with a large 1/1.72″ sensor. In challenging situations, the camera is capable of merging four nearby pixels for better low-light performance. Similar to the Realme 5 Pro, it also comes with an ultra-wide-angle lens and a super-macro lens.
More details are expected to be revealed next week so stay tuned to us for more info.
