Astro and Maxis team up to offer TV content and fibre broadband from RM128.95/month

Astro and Maxis have announced a strategic marketing partnership between both parties to offer bundled broadband with content in a single package. The partnership aims to fulfil the demand for converged connectivity with multi-play propositions that bundle connectivity, content and services. According to Astro, customers can save up to RM720 for a period of two years when they sign up for the Astro and Maxis broadband combo.

From the looks of it, it is similar to its previous Astro-Maxis IPTV packages. For broadband, it offers the same Maxis Home Fibre options of 30Mbps at RM89/month and 100Mbps at RM129/month. As usual, there’s a 24-month contract.

To enjoy Astro, you will need to add content packages that are priced from RM39.95/month for the base Family Pack. The most affordable combo option is RM128.95/month before tax on a 30Mbps plan. Below are the starting price of the respective Astro packs:

Family Pack – from RM39.95/month
Value Pack – from RM80/month
Sports Pack Ala Carte – from RM90.95/month
Super Pack – from RM146/month
Super Pack Plus – from RM178/month

The bundles offer savings of up to RM720 and this is offered as a monthly rebate together with extra savings from enabling auto-debit. On the highest Super Pack Plus Astro package with 100Mbps broadband, you can get as much as RM25 rebate + RM5 rebate for auto-debit each month.

Existing Astro customers can also sign up for the bundle but they will be re-contracted for 24-months. Do note that the rebates are only given for the first 24 months of the subscription.

Maxis CEO, Gokhan Ogut, said, “This is a new era of connectivity – Convergence. Our new partnership with Astro will give our customers another reason to choose Maxis Fibre and accelerate our convergence strategy by offering fibre to even more homes in Malaysia.”

Meanwhile, Astro CEO, Henry Tan said, “The partnership will provide our customers better-connected experience especially for On-Demand viewing, allowing them to enjoy over 50K shows via set-top boxes and on mobile devices.”

On the Astro + Broadband page, it is mentioned that the bundle is applicable for Maxis Fibre serviceable area and it is subject to port availability. Interestingly, it also says that broadband offers for more Internet Service Provider will be coming soon. This is also stated in their FAQ:

For now, the content and broadband offering is only available at Maxis fibre coverage areas. Previously, Astro IPTV was also available with TIME broadband.

At the moment, information on the Astro + Broadband offer is only available via Astro’s website. If you’re interested, Astro allows you to sign up via WhatsApp.
