Samsung revealed plenty during the Galaxy Unpacked 2019 event, and slipped into the keynote was the reveal of an Under Armour edition of the new Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2. Made in partnership with the sportswear brand, this variant will only come as a Bluetooth version, not LTE, and according to The Verge, will cost US$30 (about RM125) more than the regular edition (starting from US$279).
Users will get the Under Armour’s fitness-centric app, MapMyRun bundled—Samsung is only giving out 6 months of membership for the MVP version of the app, which usually costs US$6 (25) per month. Interestingly, runners can also opt to connect the Galaxy Watch Active 2 to Under Armour’s HOVR range of shoes, which improves the detail of running data that runners can track themselves with.
There will be two size options: a 44mm variant with a black strap, and smaller 40mm version with mod gray strap. In line with the fitness/sports branding of the smartwatch, both straps are made with Fluoroelastomer (FKM) material and feature a breathable design.
In the US, the Galaxy Watch Active2 is priced from US$279 (around RM1,170) which is higher than the previous Galaxy Watch Active US$199. As previously discussed, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 will come with a touch bezel, a throwback to the older Galaxy Watch, and an ECG monitor.
