It is quite common these days to find a 48MP camera on a smartphone. To step up its photography game, Realme is about to launch their first quad-camera smartphone next week and it will feature a higher resolution 64MP main camera.
The name of the device isn’t revealed yet and the launch event is taking place in New Delhi on the 8th August 2019. From what we know so far, the main camera is using a 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor which is currently the highest in the industry. The sensor features a pixel-merging Tetracell technology which is capable of merging four nearby pixels for better light sensitivity. As a result, it can produce brighter 16MP images with a larger pixel size of 1.6-micron.
There are no details on the other cameras and we are guessing that it could be an ultra-wide-angle camera, a telephoto lens and a depth sensor. It’s also possible that Realme could follow the Honor 20’s approach by replacing the telephoto shooter for a dedicated macro lens.
Apart from Realme, Xiaomi is also introducing a new Redmi smartphone that comes with a 64MP camera. This will be followed by Samsung which is also expected to launch a 64MP camera smartphone in the next couple of months.
