The Galaxy Note 10 is launching on 7 August 2019 and we now have the full hardware details of the new productivity smartphones thanks to reliable leaks from Roland Quandt. For this year, Samsung will be launching two models, the Galaxy Note 10 and a bigger Galaxy Note 10+.
The new Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is not only the smallest of the duo but this could be the smallest Note yet in terms of overall size. Upfront, it gets a 6.3″ Infinity Display that uses a Dynamic AMOLED panel which is similar to the latest Galaxy S10.
As speculated earlier, the Galaxy Note 10’s display will be pushing a lower Full HD+ resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. There’s Gorilla Glass 6 protection and the screen also comes with an ultra-sonic based in-display fingerprint sensor like the Galaxy S10 series.
Instead of a putting the punch-hole in the top corner of the screen, the Note 10 has a single selfie camera in the middle which houses a 10MP f/2.2 auto-focus camera. It can support 4K video recording as well as HDR10+.
According to Roland, the device for Europe (most likely for South-East Asia as well) will be running on an Exynos 9825 processor that’s clocked up to 2.7GHz with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. In terms of storage, the device will be getting 256GB of faster UFS 3.0 storage, which is the same type that’s used on the OnePlus 7 series as well as the ROG Phone II. Unfortunately, there’s no microSD card expansion for the regular Note 10.
In terms of camera, Samsung didn’t just carry over the same triple-camera array from the Galaxy S10+. It still has a 12MP main shooter that can switch between three different aperture sizes – f/1.5, f/1.8 and f/2.4. The device also gets a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12MP telephoto shooter (2X optical) that has a wider aperture of f/2.1. According to Roland, the rear camera supports HDR10+, 4K 60fps recording and it also gets optical image stabilisation
The S Pen has been improved as well with new gesture controls. This allows you to perform several tasks without touching the screen with the S Pen. Similar to the Galaxy Note9, it still retains the same 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and a 0.7mm tip. The Galaxy Note 10 still keeps IP68 dust and water resistance as well as stereo speakers that are tuned by AKG.
In terms of battery, the Galaxy Note 10 is getting a smaller 3,500mAh capacity and it also supports 12W wireless charging. The device is said to be able to support a faster 45W fast charging but Samsung is only including a 25W charging brick in the box.
Because of the smaller screen and reduced bezel, the Note 10 should be noticeably smaller with the dimensions of 151mm(H) x 71.8mm (W) x 7.9mm (D), which is pretty close to a 6.1″ Galaxy S10. As a comparison, the Galaxy Note9 has dimensions of 161.9mm (H) x 76.4mm (W) x 8.8mm (D).
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is a much bigger device with a 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED display. Unlike the standard model, the Note 10+ pushes a Quad HD+ resolution of 3040×1440 pixels. It also supports HDR10+ and it features a 10MP f/2.2 front camera that sits on a centre aligned punch-hole in the screen.
Powering the device is an Exynos 9825 processor that’s mated to 12GB of RAM. It will come with 256GB of UFS 3.0 of storage and it has been speculated that Samsung will also introduce higher 512GB and 1TB variants as well. If that’s not enough, the Galaxy Note 10+ will still offer microSD card expansion, which is lacking on the non-Pro model.
For taking pictures, it also gets the same triple-camera array as the Note 10 but the Plus model gets an extra 3D ToF camera for depth effects. Like the Note 10, it can shoot 4K videos at 60fps and there’s support for HDR10+.
Since this is a larger device, the Galaxy Note10+ will be getting a 4,300mAh battery which is 300mAh more than the Galaxy Note9. It supports a faster 45W wired charging as well as 20W fast wireless charging, which is similar to the Mi 9. There’s no mention of a 3.5mm headphone jack, and looking at the previous renders, it is believed that Samsung has removed them on the latest Note 10 duo.
Dimensions wise, the Note10+ has a slightly bigger footprint than the Galaxy Note9 at 162.3mm (height) x 77.1mm (width) but it’s thinner at 7.9mm. Interestingly, the Note 10+ still manages to be lighter than the Note9 at 198g.
According to Roland, the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus are expected to be available from 23 August 2019. Since Malaysia is a key market, we expect Samsung to start pre-orders shortly after the global event.
