After introducing the Realme 3 Pro and Realme X, the Oppo sub-brand is about to unveil its premium killer smartphone. We still don’t know the name of the device but Realme claims that it’s the world’s first smartphone to feature Samsung’s new 64MP image sensor.
Realme India CEO, Madhav Sheth, had just tweeted a photo that was taken on the new device. Based on the watermark, the upcoming Realme smartphone will come with a quad-camera setup that’s enhanced by AI.
For the main shooter, the new premium smartphone will utilise Samsung’s 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 module that has a large 1/1.72″ sensor size with a pixel size of 0.8-micron. Using its pixel-merging Tetracell technology, the main camera can capture 16MP images in low light and highly-detailed 64MP shots in brighter situations
We managed to extract the original uploaded image and it measures 4096×3072 pixels which is equivalent to a 12MP image. It isn’t clear if the image was resized before it was uploaded and we expected the device to capture either 64MP or 16MP by default depending on lighting conditions. Since Realme is calling this a premium killer, we are guessing that it could be running on a Snapdragon 855 processor. The Realme 3 Pro was released with a Snapdragon 710 processor and it only makes sense for them to release a higher flagship-class smartphone with a Snapdragon 855 unit.
What we do know is that the new Realme device will be launched first in India and they are looking at releasing it in Q4 this year, which is still a long time to go. Since Realme is going head-on with Xiaomi, this could be their direct contender to the Redmi K20 Pro. The Redmi flagship has a triple-camera setup and it features a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor. The Realme 3 Pro is currently priced from RM899 in Malaysia and it would be very interesting if this new flagship device is priced below RM1,600.
