The RM5,459 Lenovo ThinkBook 13s is designed for Malaysian SMEs

Lenovo has officially launched a new laptop that it says is designed specifically for local SMEs. Starting from RM5,459, the 13-inch ThinkBook also marks the birth of a new SME-focused sub-brand for the company.

The new ThinkBook laptop will bring features that Lenovo thinks is important for small business. This includes things like design, security and performance as well as the added benefit of reliable support, all at a reasonable price point.

The ThinkBook 13s can be unfolded flat at 180°. The thin bezel makes room for a more compact design and gives the feeling of having a larger display. The laptop’s body is made out of durable aluminium and magnesium finished with a premium ‘Mineral Grey’ finish. The all-in, ultraportable-class computer weighs in at 1.34kg.

For the price, you’ll be getting Windows 10, Intel Core i7-8565U Processor with 16GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB SSD as well as an AMD Radeon 540X 2G 2GB GDDR5 graphics card.

The computer also includes a fingerprint reader with single-step authentication among other things including a discrete TPM 2.0 to enable Windows 10 security features and user data encryption, a physical camera cover and hinges coated in indium metal to reduce WiFi interference

You also get Dolby Audio through two HARMAN speakers,a set of dual-array noise cancelling mics, a FHD 13.3-inch IPS LED display with Dolby Vision pushing out a maximum brightness of 300 nits, a spill-resistant keyboard designed to withstand up to 60cc of liquid and up to 11 hours of battery life with Rapid Charge fast charging that gives 80% juice from 1 hour of charging.

For those who work on the go a lot, you’ll be happy to know that ThinkBook 13s supports instant power on from standby and there’s a dedicated Skype button on the keyboard for those frequent teleconferences.

In terms of ports, there’s one USB-C Gen 2 port, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 (one always on) and a full-sized HDMI port. You also get a headphone/mic jack combo.

With the laptop being a Lenovo, you can expect enterprise-level support as well as a welth of built-in self-management features, especially useful for smaller companies without dedicated onsite support teams.

At the moment there’s only one variant of the ThinkBook 13s (the one with the Intel Core i7-8565U Processor with 16GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB SSD as well as an AMD Radeon 540X 2G 2GB GDDR5 graphics card) and that it is priced at RM5,459. More details of the ThinkBook 13s here.
