Astro gets exclusive rights for iQIYI content in Malaysia

Astro has announced an exclusive partnership with Chinese online entertainment platform, iQIYI. This will grant Astro exclusive rights to deliver iQIYI content on TV, on-demand and OTT in Malaysia.

The partnership also enables Astro to deliver the world’s first iQIYI branded channel which will feature iQIYI’s extensive original content ranging from drama to variety shows and movies. In addition, Astro will also take the lead in customer acquisition, marketing and media sales.

Astro CEO, Henry Tan said “We are excited about the incredible opportunity that iQIYI presents in technology leadership and content innovation. This partnership enables us both to leverage on the strength of our brands and skillsets to extend our reach in the content world which is increasingly personal and digital.”

Some of the top iQIYI original dramas and variety shows such as Story of Yanxi Palace, The Golden Eyes, The Legend of White Snake, Tang Dynasty Tour, The Rap of China, Hot-Blood Dance Crew and Qing Chun You Ni are available on Astro. With the new partnership, Astro will offer more quality content such as The Rap of China 2019, Sword Dynasty and The Files of Teenagers in the Concession.
