HP brings authentic wood finish options to its Envy line of laptops

If aluminium or plastic is too mainstream for you, the latest iteration of HP’s Envy laptop may interest you. HP refreshed its Envy line of laptops with authentic wood finish options. As far as I can tell, this is the first time a major computer manufacturer has offered wood finishes as an option for its computer.

However, this is not the first time, HP specced its laptops with alternative finishes. In October last year, HP launched the HP Spectre Folio, a laptop the company claims was the world’s first convertible PC made of genuine leather.

The HP Envy Wood Series ( Envy 13, Envy 17, Envy x360 13, and Envy x360 15) carries most of the components from the standard version but is offered with a new selection of processors including the next-generation Intel Core processors or second-generation AMD Ryzen processors with Radeon Vega graphics.

Three finish options are available — “Nightfall Black with Natural Walnut,” “Ceramic White with White Birch,” and “Natural Silver with Pale Birch.”

If I had to choose one, it would be this walnut edition.
Here’s the HP Envy finished in white birch. Note the CD drive.

And because each computer in the series is finished with authentic wood inlay, each laptop is one-of-a-kind because of the unique characteristics of the wood grain.

The HP Envy Wood Series will hit shelves sometime in the third quarter of this year but so far HP has not confirmed if the wood option will be coming to Malaysia.
