This is what the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro (aka Redmi K20 Pro Global version) looks like

The latest flagship killer, the Redmi K20, will be released globally as a Xiaomi-branded smartphone. It has been confirmed that it will be known as the Xiaomi Mi 9T and the device will be announced very soon. If you’re wondering if the global model will share the same exterior design as the Chinese-market Redmi K20, reliable leakster Roland Quandt has just shared official press images of the top of the line Mi 9T Pro.

Looking at the high-resolution renders, the Mi 9T Pro looks identical to the Redmi K20 Pro that was launched recently in China. It also gets an all-screen design while the back features a premium-looking curved back. The biggest difference is that Xiaomi version carries a Mi logo instead of a landscape-oriented Redmi logo. If you look at the top-most camera, there’s a label that says 48MP AI Triple Camera.

The rest of the hardware appears to be unchanged and in Europe, Xiaomi will release two versions – the Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro. Both will get a 6.39″ Full HD+ AMOLED display that comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Since there’s no notch or punch-holes it will feature a pop-up 20MP selfie camera.

The biggest difference is that the Mi 9T comes with a Snapdragon 730 processor, while the Pro version will be running on a flagship-class Snapdragon 855 unit. Both are expected to come with either 6GB or 8GB RAM along with multiple storage options that could start from 64GB.

In the imaging department, the Mi 9T Pro is expected to come with a 48MP f/1.75 main camera with a Sony IMX586 sensor along with a 13MP f/2.4 ultra-wide angle lens. There’s also an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto shooter that offers 2X optical zoom.

The device will come with a large 4,000mAh battery and it also supports 27W fast charging. It will also get a 3.5mm headphone jack but unlike the Mi 9, there’s no wireless charging support. Interestingly, Roland Quandt’s spec sheet has listed a microSD card slot for both the Mi 9T and the Mi 9T Pro. This could be the biggest difference between the global and Chinese units if the spec-sheet details are accurate.

Similar to the Chinese market, the Mi 9T series will also come in three colours – Flame Red, Glacier Blue and Carbon Fire Black. Xiaomi has not revealed any international launch dates yet but according to an Austrian distributor, the device will be available from 10th June 2019.

For Malaysia, the standard Mi 9T has already passed our SIRIM certification and it is an indication that it will be going on sale pretty soon. So far there are no pricing details yet but we expect it to be more affordable than the current Mi 9 that retails from RM1,699 for the base model.
