If you’re looking for a smartphone that packs the best specs at the lowest price possible, the upcoming Redmi K20 is something you should look forward to. The device will be announced in China on 28th May 2019 and it appears that Xiaomi will release a total of two models – Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro.
Prior to this, we know that the upcoming flagship smartphone will feature the top of the line hardware which includes a Snapdragon 855 processor. Based on an image below which appears to be captured from a Mi Store, there will be a more affordable model that runs on a Snapdragon 730 processor. The rest of the specs appear to be similar as it retains a full-screen display without a notch and it will also come with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The poster also confirms a pop-up selfie camera, a 48MP main camera for the rear and a large 4,000mAh battery. The image also tells us that the Redmi K20 (non-Pro) will come in both red and blue options.
The Snapdragon 730 processor is Qualcomm’s latest premium mid-range offering which was announced early last month. On paper, it’s more powerful and efficient than the Snapdragon 712 processor that’s found on the Mi 9 SE.
It has 2x (2.2GHz Kryo 470 Gold) cores + 6x (1.8GHz Kryo 470 Silver) cores, and it uses an Adreno 618 GPU. This is also Qualcomm’s first processor to use Samsung’s 8nm LPP manufacturing process.
In terms of pricing, it is possible that the non-Pro model could be going for around RM1,200-RM1,500. We still don’t know what RAM and storage options will be available but we believe it should come with at least 64GB of internal storage.
Based on yesterday’s leak, the Redmi K20 Pro model with a Snapdragon 855 processor will be priced from 2,599CNY (about RM1,577) for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant while the top spec model with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage is priced at 2,999CNY (about RM1,820).
For your reference, the Pocophone F1 was introduced in Malaysia at RM1,299 (6GB RAM + 64GB storage) and RM1,499 (6GB RAM + 128GB storage). Note that these are the price with SST included.
Interestingly, the K20 series is said to be released as the Xiaomi Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro in Poland. It was also speculated that the same device could be released as a Pocophone F2 in selected markets. We hope to find out more in the coming weeks.
