Honor 20 unboxing and hands on

Honor has officially unveiled their flagship devices and they are none other than the Honor 20 series. And lucky for me, we’ve already got our hands on the Honor 20, so let’s check out what’s inside the box.

Inside the box, you will find yourself a SIM ejector tool, a jelly case, the Honor 20 itself, an adapter, a USB-C cable as well as a dongle.

The Honor 20 that I have with me comes in Sapphire Blue, and unlike any flagship devices these days, it doesn’t come with any fancy gradient colour to it. So if you’re someone who likes something simple, this might be the device for you.

At the back you will find yourself a vertically aligned quad camera setup, which I will talk about it later. And if you notice, there’s no rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Instead, you will be getting a side mounted fingerprint scanner that’s placed on the right side of the aluminium frame.

The Honor 20 features a 6.26”Full HD+ display with a 91.6% of screen to body ratio. And if you look closely, there’s a tiny hole at the top left corner that houses the selfie camera, which is quite similar to the Honor View 20. It also has a really slim bezels and a noticeable chin at the bottom.

Under the hood, this device is powered by a top of the line Kirin 980 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

And now let’s talk about the camera. This device gets a quad camera setup that consists of a 48MP Sony IMX 586 main camera, which is also similar to the ones we saw on the Honor View 20.

But unlike the Pro version, the main camera on the Honor 20 only comes with an f/1.8 aperture. The Honor 20 Pro gets a wider aperture at f/1.4. In theory, this allows you to take better pictures in low light.

Other than that, the Honor 20 also gets a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle lens as well as a 2MP camera for depth effects. For the fourth lens, this device gets a 2MP f/2.4 camera for macro shots.

Powering the Honor 20 is a 3750mAh battery that supports Huawei 22.5W SuperCharge via USB-C.

The Malaysia launch will take place on the 23rd of May 2019. So we will know the local pricing and availability by then. However, pre-order and first-day sales have been postponed until further notice. We’ll update you on these details as soon as we have the information.

So what do you think of the Honor 20? Let me know in the comments below.
