The budget-friendly Samsung Galaxy M series is expected to get a new powerful device very soon. It appears that Samsung is working on a Galaxy M40 and this is could be the first device in the lineup that runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
A new device with the model SM-M405F was recently spotted on Geekbench with SM6150 listed under its system information. That codename is also known as the Snapdragon 675 processor which is also powering the current Galaxy A70 and Vivo V15 Pro.
Other than that, the device is also listed with 6GB of RAM and it is likely to come with 128GB of storage, similar to its current Galaxy M30. The Galaxy M40 with the model SM-M405F had recently passed WiFi-Alliance certification and it will support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi. The rest of the specs isn’t known yet and we are guessing that the display should be larger than the Galaxy M30.
As a reference, the Galaxy M30 features a 6.4″ Full HD+ Super AMOLED display and it is powered by an Exynos 7904 processor. The device gets a 13MP f/1.9 main + 5MP ultra-wide-angle + 5MP + depth camera array, while the front gets a 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera on its U-shaped notch. Similar to the Galaxy M20, the M30 also gets a huge 5,000mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging via USB-C.
If Samsung continues the trend of having a 5,000mAh battery, the Galaxy M40 could be an interesting mid-range contender under RM1,500. In India, the current Galaxy M30 is priced at 17,990 INR (about RM1,077) for its top of the line 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model.
