Oppo’s budget focused sub-brand, Realme has finally taken the wraps off their latest smartphone and it is called the Realme 3. Similar to its predecessor, the Realme 3 is equipped with decent specs for a very respectable price.
In terms of its specifications, the Realme 3 features a 6.22-inch HD+ LCD (1520×720 pixels) display, similar to the ones we saw on its predecessor, the Realme 2. The only difference is the design of the notch which is now smaller.
The device will feature a MediaTek Helio P70 processor, offering a substantial upgrade over its predecessor – Realme 2, which has a Snapdragon 450 chipset instead. It is coupled with either 3 or 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage. If that’s not sufficient, you can always add more (up to 256GB) via a dedicated microSD slot.
In terms of camera, the Realme 3 packs a dual camera setup that consist of a 13MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP secondary sensor for depth effects. The small little dot of a notch surrounds a 13MP selfie camera module with an f/2.0 aperture.
Out of the box, the Realme 3 runs on the latest Android Pie with ColorOS 6.0 skin on top. The device also retains the same 4,230mAh battery capacity that charges via a microUSB port.
In terms of battery life, the Realme 3 is claimed to last longer than the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 that has a 5,000mAh battery. It is claimed that the Realme 3 can last 2 hours longer for YouTube video playback and more than 2 hours longer for PUBG gaming.
The Realme 3 is officially launched in India and the device comes in 2 variants. The base model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage will be priced at Rs 8,999 (around RM 518) while the higher spec version with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage is going for Rs 10,990 (around RM 633).
The first sale is happening on the 12th of March 2019 and you can purchase the device on Flipkart. However, there’s no official word on whether the Realme 3 will make it into Malaysia, but we will keep you updated if the device arrives locally.
That’s not all. During the end of the Realme 3 launch in India, Madhav Sheth, the CEO of Realme India revealed that the company is set to launch the Pro variant of the device next month and it would be a strong contender to the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
There’s not much information revealed on the teaser image posted on Twitter, but it carries a tagline that reads “speed awakens”, which could also mean that the upcoming device will feature a better processor. We are guessing that the smartphone could come with a Snapdragon 675 processor, just like the one we saw on the Redmi Note 7 Pro for India.
