After an alleged Huawei P30 Pro prototype hands-on photos had surfaced online, serial leakster Roland Quandt had taken the opportunity to dismiss it as the final product. For those who are eager to know how the P30 and P30 Pro would really look like, he has just shared press renders of the two new flagship smartphones.
Instead of having a punch-hole screen, the P30 Pro gets a dual-curved FullView display that has a tiny U-shape notch at the top for the selfie cameras. The design approach for the back of the device remains unchanged as it tries to imitate the appearance of a point of shoot camera.
For the P30 Pro, it gets a triple-camera setup and Roland has emphasised that these images are for the non-5G model. There’s a possibility that Huawei might be releasing a quad-camera version for the P30 Pro 5G variant.
If we look closer at the camera, we noticed a square camera lens which is similar to OPPO’s new triple-camera setup with 10X lossless zoom. This implies that the P30 Pro will be equipped with a periscope mechanism for its zoom feature.
The label underneath the LEICA branding indicates that the camera array will have a variety of SUMMILUX-H lens with apertures ranging between f/1.6 to f/3.4. It also tells us that it will have a focal length of 16 – 125mm which is equivalent to 7.8x zoom.
The 7.8x zoom is likely to be a hybrid setup. As a comparison, the Mate 20 Pro’s camera has a focal length of 16-80mm which is equivalent to 5x zoom. In reality, the zoom lens has 3X optical and it can deliver 5x hybrid zoom.
It is also worth highlighting that the P30 Pro comes with additional sensors next to its triple-camera array. There’s a smaller camera which is said to be a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor like the one that’s found on the Honor View20. The Pro model is also said to come with a dual LED flash and Laser AutoFocus.
For the more affordable non-pro P30, the device will come with a flat FullView display that also has a U-shape notch. The rear also gets a triple-camera setup which is somewhat similar to the current Mate 20 Pro.
If we look closely at the label, it’s written VARIO-SUMMILUX-H 1.8-2.4 / 17-80. This means it will also get an 17mm ultra-wide-angle lens and it is also capable of 5x Hybrid zoom at 80mm.
Since the rear of the Huawei P30 lacks a rear-fingerprint sensor, it is likely that it will also come with an in-display fingerprint sensor like the P30 Pro.
