First, it was chicken rice, then it was satay, after that, nasi lemak and now it’s cendol. In its latest list of the ‘50 of the world’s best desserts’, CNN claims that cendol is from, of all places, Singapore.
CNN’s latest list of ‘50 of the world’s best desserts’ includes cendol, but their description of the dish being from Singapore has left Malaysian foodies feeling more bitter than sweet, says the Malay Mail.
On its website, CNN describes cendol as a ‘blissfully cool dessert’ and acknowledges that different versions of it can be found throughout South-east Asia, but says that Singapore’s take on the dish with sweet red beans makes it ‘especially tempting’.
Obviously, we Malaysians are pissed!
