The Realme 2 Pro is a beautiful blend of power and style, designed for the trendy youth

This post is brought to you by Realme Malaysia.

While smartphones these days are a dime a dozen, to find a smartphone that’s specifically tailored for the young generation — a phone that knows what their needs are — is still fairly difficult. You see, the youth don’t just want any old smartphone, they want a phone that both features a trendy design and comes with outstanding performance. Luckily, Realme has just the smartphone for this generation of youths — youths who will accept nothing but the best. And that phone is called the Realme 2 Pro.

When Realme set out to make the Realme 2 Pro, they had one specific idea in mind: They wanted to make a phone for the young generation. And what they’ve come up with is one very capable smartphone.

First up, you’ve got the screen. It’s a large one, measuring 6.3 inches diagonally while pushing a resolution of Full HD+. Although this sounds like a really large display, the phone has exceptionally slim bezels so it only has the footprint of a regular smartphone with a 5.5-inch screen instead. At the top, you’re also getting a lot more real estate. Instead of a normal large notch like many other phones in the market right now, the Realme 2 Pro adopts a tiny notch so it doesn’t really obstruct your view. In fact, it’s so unobtrusive that this phone actually has a screen-to-body ratio of 90.8%!

This tiny notch is very reminiscent of a droplet of water, dangling off a leaf on a cool spring morning, so it’s no surprise that Realme calls it a Dewdrop design. This dewdrop philosophy carries over to the striking back cover where you get this mesmerising look that you don’t really get on most other smartphones.

Of course, you shouldn’t let the Realme 2 Pro’s delicate exterior fool you, it isn’t just a pretty face: In fact, the Realme 2 Pro packs quite the punch. The star of this smartphone’s powerhouse performance is the upper mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE processor. That SoC can also be mated to up to a whopping 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. So, not only will the phone pack enough power to easily get you through your daily tasks, it also packs enough performance to run most modern mobile games!

But a powerful phone won’t be very useful if it can’t last. That’s why Realme has bundled a 3,500 mAh battery in the 2 Pro. The company says that you will be able to get a whole-day’s battery life without needing to recharge it halfway through.

So the Realme 2 Pro can keep up with your daily needs, look as good as you do and last as long as your fabulous life demands. But what’s the point of living a fabulous life if you can’t also capture these moments and share them on social media? Well, there’s good news because the Realme 2 Pro also features a capable camera that’s perfect for social media sharing.

At the back, you’ve got a 16MP dual camera setup that features a Sony IMX398 sensor with large 1.12 micron pixels. For low-light situations, Realme’s included a fast f/1.7 aperture lens so it can let in more light for brighter photos even at night — in fact, the lens lets in 60% more light than common f/2.2 aperture lenses. Up front, you’ve got a 16MP selfie shooter with an f/2.0 aperture lens that’s purpose-built to give you excellent selfies. This particular selfie camera also packs AI beautification features that can identify 296 facial features and offer 8 million personalised beautification solutions. In fact. This AI beauty is so extensive that if you do take a group selfie (or wefie) the Realme 2 Pro can actually beautify everyone in the photo (up to 4 people) in their own unique way.

Want a little more separation from you and your background? Both the selfie and main camera are capable of depth effects so you can capture some unique images. These depth effects add a bokeh — or a soft blurring of the background — to help add a layer of separation between you and your backdrop.

Finally, we’ve got the software side of things– the proverbial glue that holds this entire experience together. Realme 2 Pro runs on ColorOS 5.2, which is the company’s own take on the Android operating system. This version, in particular, is built on top of Android 8.1, and it adds a bunch of fundamental features. Among these are features like easy screenshot that allows you to take a screenshot with a three finger swipe down, reliable ColorOS security patch updates and various optimisations to popular mobile games all add that extra layer of usability to the otherwise plain vanilla Android experience.

As a whole, the Realme 2 Pro is definitely looking like an incredible smartphone that would fit perfectly into the lives of the young generation. It’s trendy, powerful, long-lasting and features a set of capable cameras for those crucial social media posts. However, capable phones tend to come with high price tags because good components are usually expensive.

Well, the good news is, the Realme 2 Pro is actually a very reasonably priced smartphone considering what it can do. Realme 2 Pro comes in three memory configurations:

Realme 2 Pro — 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM – RM849
Realme 2 Pro — 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM – RM949
Realme 2 Pro — 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM – RM1,099

What are you waiting for? This smartphone is available for purchase at any of Realme’s 500 authorised stores nationwide. Alternatively, you can also pick up this smartphone online at Shopee for special prices!
