ASUS will be unveiling the ZenFone Max M2 Pro on 11 December 2018. Ahead of its official event, the upcoming mid-range smartphone has been revealed by serial leakster, Roland Quandt. The device is joined by a more affordable version that’s called the ZenFone Max M2.
The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is the successor of the current ZenFone Max Pro M1. The biggest change is the display as it gets a 6.0″ IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. Unlike the current ZenFone Max Pro M1, this new model comes with a notch, while the rear gets a premium-looking glass back.
The new model also gets an upgraded Snapdragon 660 processor with at least 4GB of RAM and storage options of either 64GB or 128GB onboard. Despite rumours of it having a triple-camera setup, the new model comes with just two cameras for the rear that consists of a 12MP main camera with Sony’s IMX486 sensor and a secondary 5MP unit.
There’s also the ZenFone Max (non-Pro) variant which appears to be an updated version of the current ZenFone Max Pro M1. It also gets a notched display and it still retains the same Snapdragon 636 processor with up to 4GB of RAM. Storage options are smaller at 32GB and 64GB but you still can expand further via microSD. The rear looks similar to the current model and it uses metal for the back cover.
According to Roland’s source, the non-Pro ZenFone Max uses a 13MP shooter for its main camera. In terms of battery, it is likely that both models will feature a large 5,000mAh capacity unit since battery life is one of its key highlights. Pricing and availability details are still unknown and we will learn more on 11 December 2018.
