Realme arrives in Malaysia with three affordable smartphones

OPPO’s new sub-brand, Realme, has finally entered the Malaysian market after making its debut in India and Indonesia. The brand aims to take on the youthful and budget centric crowd with three affordable smartphones priced below RM1,100.

Realme 2 Pro

Sitting on top of the range is the Realme 2 Pro that offers a large 6.3″ Full HD+ display with a tiny “dewdrop” notch. Powering the device is a powerful yet efficient Snapdragon 660 processor with Adreno 512 GPU. It comes with either 4GB, 6GB or 8GB RAM configurations with up to 128GB of storage. If you need more storage, it even comes with a dedicated microSD card slot.

For imaging, the Realme 2 Pro comes with a 16MP + 2MP dual-camera combo. It has EIS stabilisation for video recording and the main camera has an aperture of f/1.7. Meanwhile, the front comes with a 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera with AI beautification.

Powering the device is a 3,500mAh battery which charges via microUSB. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with OPPO’s ColorOS 5.2 skin on top. Below are the official Realme 2 Pro pricing for Malaysia:

Realme 2 Pro 4GB RAM + 64GB storage – RM849

Realme 2

For those looking for a device that’s more affordable, the Realme 2 offers a 6.2″ display that pushes a lower 1520×720 pixels resolution. To stand out from the rest, the Realme2 gets a unique diamond-like effect back design which is available in either Diamond Red and Diamond Black.

Under the hood, is a Snapdragon 450 processor that comes with either 3GB RAM + 32GB storage or 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. The back comes with a 13MP + 2MP camera combo while the front carries an 8MP selfie camera with AI Beautification features.

Although the Realme 2 has lower hardware specs as the Realme 2 Pro, it gets a larger 4,230mAh battery which should last at least a full day of usage on a single charge.

The Realme 2 will be available in Malaysia from 24th November 2018 and below is the official pricing:

Realme 2 3GB RAM + 32GB storage – RM599
Realme 2 4GB RAM + 64GB storage – RM699

Realme C1

To most affordable model of the lot is the Realme C1. Despite being an entry-level model, it is quite similar to the Realme 2 as it also has a rather large 6.2″ HD+ display and it runs on a Snapdragon 450 processor.

As you would expect from a budget device, it comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage which is expandable via microSD. You also get a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera combo at the rear with a 5MP selfie camera upfront. Similar to the Realme 2, the Realme C1 also gets a 4,230mAh battery that charges via microUSB.

It’s priced at RM449 and it can be yours for only RM399 on Lazada Malaysia from 22 November until 22 December 2018. It comes in Navy Blue and Mirror Black.

Since Realme is under OPPO, you can get technical support via OPPO’s service centres. However, we are told that it’s only applicable at 21 selected outlets in Malaysia.
