This could be the world’s first smartphone with 10GB of RAM

We have seen the wild pop up camera on the OPPO Find X and it was mind-blowing. But today, we found out that the Chinese manufacturer could be adding even more crazy onto that with what looks like a brand new variant.

Based on an entry in China’s regulatory agency TENAA, it looks like OPPO will launch a Find X variant that will have a massive 10GB of RAM. That means that the Find X could be the first mainstream smartphone to packs this much memory. For context, the current Find X comes with 8GB of RAM with either 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage.

Everything else about the phone appears to be the same. It has a 6.42-inch Full HD+ dual curved display that pushes a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. It also has a 93.8% screen to body ratio with really slim bezels. Powering the device is a top-of-the-line octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and a 3,730 mAh battery that supports OPPO’s VOOC fast-charging via a USB-C port.

The camera placement of the OPPO Find X is one of the more unique features of the device. It is hidden from view and will reveal itself when you’ve launched the camera app thanks to a motorised sliding mechanism. It features a 16MP+20MP dual camera at the back as well as a 25MP shooter for selfies.

In Malaysia, the 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant is priced at RM3,699. While there is no information on the price of this new 10GB RAM variant of the OPPO Find X, one can imagine that it could cost a fortune.

Do you think that 10GB of RAM is really necessary for a smartphone? Let us know in the comments below.
