Huawei’s new charger could be 78% more powerful than its current SuperCharge technology

Huawei will be announcing its Huawei Mate 20 series very soon. Word has it that it will come with a massive 4,200mAh battery which is larger than most flagships smartphones today. However, big batteries usually mean longer charging time but Huawei might have a new solution to this.

It appears that the Mate 20 will bring even more powerful wired charging than its predecessor, the Huawei Mate 10. The current Huawei flagships are equipped with SuperCharge power adapters that can charge with a maximum output of 22.5W (5V 4.5A). Meanwhile, the Mate 20’s new charger is purported to be pushing a higher 40W power delivery via USB-C.

The details for the new charger was spotted on the FCC, and it has been certified with an output of 10V 4A.  This could be the closest challenger to OPPO’s SuperVOOC charging tech which currently does 50W on the Find X Lamborghini edition. When it comes to safety, Huawei’s current SuperCharge is TÜV Rheinland certified and we expect them to do the same with their new charger.

That’s not all, the Mate 20 is also said to support wireless charging, a feature which Huawei currently only offers on the Mate RS Porsche Design. According to its certification, the new charging pad can deliver up to 15W of power. As a comparison, the iPhone wireless charging maxes at 7.5W while Samsung’s wireless charging does 9W.

From what we know so far is that Huawei Mate 20 will feature a 6.3-inch AMOLED display that pushes a Full HD+ resolution of 2244×1080. The device will be running on Huawei’s latest Kirin 980 processor and it is expected to feature a Leica triple-camera like the P20 Pro.

There are a couple of leaked photos of the device and it was spotted with an interesting camera array design. The Mate 20 will be revealed next month in London on 16 October 2018. Would you get this over the Galaxy Note9 and the iPhone XS Max? Let us know in the comments below.
