The Samsung Galaxy Note9 will launch in Malaysia next week

Samsung’s big launch of the Galaxy Note9 will take place tomorrow night (9th of August) and while everyone’s pretty hyped about that, we just received information that Samsung’s latest flagship will officially be launched in Malaysia next week.

The company just dropped us an STD (save the date) to an event that will be happening on the 15th of August 2018. Although the Galaxy Note9’s name wasn’t explicitly mentioned, the STD contained the Note9’s gold and blue colourscheme as well as some text reading “The new super powerful smartphone is almost here”. I think it’s pretty obvious which device they’re referring to.

So far, information about this upcoming flagship has slowly trickled out. Celcom, for example, revealed that Malaysian pre-orders for this handset will actually begin on the 10th of August 2018 (the day after the launch), which in retrospect seems to fit nicely with this launch timeframe. Thanks to Lazada, we may have also gotten a glimpse at the Note9’s price tag, with the most expensive top-of-the-line variant potentially retailing at RM5,099.

As far as specs are concerned, you can expect the best that Samsung has to offer, which means it should be fairly similar to the Samsung Galaxy S9+, right down to its dual-camera system. However, rumour has it that Samsung will bump RAM up to 8GB and storage up to 512GB of internal store with the ability to expand further for up to an additional 512GB of space via microSD. What’s more Samsung’s also rumoured to equip the Galaxy Note9 with a 4,000 mAh battery.

Finally, one of the biggest changes on the Note9 will likely be related to the S Pen as most of what we’ve seen so far have the S Pen prominently displayed. Not only will the S Pen come in a different colour, but it’s rumoured to have a whole bunch of additional features too.

Samsung’s new Note9 will allegedly come in a bunch of different colours including a blue, gold, black and purple colourway. Wildly popular Battle Royale game Fortnite will apparently also make its Android debut with the Samsung Galaxy Note9, which is interesting.

Either way, all will be revealed in time so stay tuned for all the details! The global launch in New York will be happening on the 9th of August 2018 at 11pm Malaysian Time.
