vivo NEX Malaysia: Everything you need to know

The vivo NEX has finally arrived in Malaysia and it’s an all-screen flagship smartphone that has no notch. Compared to the Find X, the NEX has a bigger display and it comes with a lower price tag.

To refresh your memory, the vivo NEX comes with a 6.59” Ultra FullView Display. It pushes a Full HD+ resolution on an AMOLED panel and it runs on a top of the line Snapdragon 845 processor that’s mated to 8GB of RAM.

In Malaysia, we are getting a single 128GB storage option which isn’t expandable. The NEX lacks a traditional earpiece and it uses a screen soundcasting technology which emits audio through the display.

In the photography department, the NEX comes with a 12MP f/1.8 + 5MP f/2.4 dual camera setup. It has 4-axis Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) as well as Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) for steadier videos. Since there’s no room for a traditional front facing camera, its 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera is hidden in a pop-up mechanism that can be activated in one second.

Powering this flagship is a large 4,000mAh battery which charges via USB-C. Also included is a HiFi DAC and it also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. To unlock the device, it also comes with a third generation in-display fingerprint sensor which has been improved for better speed and accuracy.

On the left, the NEX gets a dedicated AI button which can be used to trigger Jovi or other AI services such as Google Assistant. Out of the box, it runs on Android 8.1 with vivo’s own FunTouch OS skin on top.

The vivo NEX is officially priced at RM2,799. It will be available starting from 28 July 2018 at all vivo concept stores and authorised resellers throughout Malaysia.
