Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ gets 480fps super slow-mo option

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ comes with a super slow-mo feature that allows you to turn a 0.2 second moment into a dramatic 6-second clip at 960fps. To make capturing easier, it comes with an automatic detection feature which will trigger super slow-mo if an object appears in your selected area.

At such a high rate, you’ll need great lighting and it can get really noisy in less ideal situations. To strike a balance, it appears that Samsung is introducing a newer super slow-mo option with its upcoming software update.

According to several reports, the new software update for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ is said to come with a 480fps option. With its lower frame rate, this allows you to capture the moment at double the duration of 0.4 seconds. Surprisingly, this is enabled for the manual option where you’ll need to hit the on-screen shutter button for it to capture. The 960 fps option is still there and it’s available for the automatic super slow-mo mode.

Apart from this feature, the new update also improves on AR Emoji stability and it also brings the latest July Android security update. At the moment, it is currently rolling out in India and South Korea. When we checked on our Galaxy S9+ Malaysian unit, the update isn’t available yet but we reckon it could be pushed in the next couple of days.
