OPPO Find X Malaysia: Everything you need to know

The all-screen OPPO Find X with its motorised sliding cameras has finally launched in Malaysia. It is an absolutely stunning device and is easily one of the most innovative handsets to launch this year. Here’s everything you need to know.

Price and availability

OPPO’s Find X will retail for RM3,699 and will come in two colours: Glacier Blue and Bordeaux Red. Pre-orders can be made from the 17th of July 2018 onwards at physical OPPO concept stores as well as online at the official OPPO Online Store and its e-commerce partner sites like Lazada, 11street and Shopee. Customers can also head to Celcom Blue Cubes and senQ to place their pre-orders. Each per-order customer will receive an Olike Neo smartwatch worth RM376.

The device itself will hit shelves on the 5th of August 2018.

Specs

OPPO’s Find X is a proper 2018 flagship smartphone. That means it packs a top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor mated to 8GB of RAM and a generous 256GB of internal storage. In front, you’re getting a near bezel-less 6.42-inch Full HD+ dual-curved display, while a 3,730 mAh battery, with support for OPPO’s VOOC fast-charging (via USB-C), keeps everything running.

The Find X’s show-stopper is its sophisticated sliding cameras. Once you launch the camera app, the top of the smartphone slides up to reveal the 16MP+20MP dual camera at the back as well as the 25MP selfie camera up front. But, the front isn’t just home to the selfie shooter, it also contains a sophisticated array of sensors that enable OPPO’s own version of Face ID facial unlocking and Omojis.

Unfortunately, this handset doesn’t feature stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack or water resistance of any kind. Out of the box, the handset runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with OPPO’s ColorOS 5.1 skin running on top. OPPO also says that the Find X will support Android P beta too.
